Here is an interview with Mr. J.R.R. Tolkien concerning his book The Hobbit. If I had to guess, I would say it was shot sometime in the 1960's. I had never heard his voice until I saw this video first time a few days ago. He sounds quite different than what I had imagined. Does his voice remind you of anyone?
Actually, that was about what I thought he might sound like. Very proper British chap! C.S. Lewis has a few recordings that really suprised me. His voice is a deep baritone. -Tolkien, however, reminds me of Alan Redpath. Great clip Chris!

I actually have them somewhere on cassette tape. I'll have to dig around for them.
I don't know who he might sound like, but I do recognize the voice narrating at the end of the clip (I think).
