Golf in Hobbiton

I played golf over the weekend at a certain place that looked curiously like a small town in the western part of Middle Earth. Can you tell from the pictures, which is which?

Now if I can only learn to swing a golf club like Orcrist the Goblin Cleaver, I'll be doing all right!

Tolkien on The Hobbit

Here is an interview with Mr. J.R.R. Tolkien concerning his book The Hobbit. If I had to guess, I would say it was shot sometime in the 1960's. I had never heard his voice until I saw this video first time a few days ago. He sounds quite different than what I had imagined. Does his voice remind you of anyone?

Children of Hurin Released

The brand new book by J.R.R. Tolkien was released two days ago. I am eager to read it! A few reviews are out and so far they have all been VERY positive. They say it is somewhat easier to read than the Silmarillion. There is a dragon in the story and apparently he is quite nasty. Oh goody! Only downside, I have heard so far--not much mention of our furry footed friends, the Hobbits. (I wonder if there is any mention of Bree???)

If anyone has read it yet, please let me know what you think.
